Thing 17-The Social Web/Tagging

I am a social tagger, and instead of using Facebook or Diingo to tag things and comment on material I like or dislike, I can use Delicious. Delicious allows us to bookmark a web page and then add tags to categorize our bookmarks. 

How wonderful will this website be when I need to find core curriculum lesson plans for my classroom.  They will be right on one website instead of having to search folders and bookmarks on my desktop.  I also like the feature that allows you to tag similar links that your friends/fellow teachers like, this is where the social networking aspect comes into play.

I enjoyed creating my Delicious account.  When searching Educational Technology and links of thereabouts, I found this tag that commented about Edutopia.

  This is a web site for educators that provides support, ideas, information and resources for educators of all age groups. There is lesson plans and ideas available by age level and subject. There are quizzes and other classroom resources available. There are extensive links to education blogs that are searchable for the educator to find ideas and answers to their questions. Although there are many advertisements it is a good resource and way to connect with other educators.

I also created a blog about my experiences using Delicious.  I can see myself using this site to stay connected with parents of my students.  I might attach practice quizzes, and weekly letters for everyone to see.
